About Tahlequah OK
Tahlequah, at the foot of the Ozarks, is a small city in Cherokee County in Oklahoma. It was originally founded as the capital of the Cherokee Nation. Today, it is a community of a little more than 16,000 residents. Tahlequa is located about an equal distance from Tulsa, to the northwest, and Fort Smith, to the southeast. It is also a short distance to several parks and lake areas, making it a lovely, small community to live in. The rich history is evident throughout the town, as even street signs are lettered in both English and the Cherokee language.
